Our Design Philosophy
Our approach is based upon a number of simple, yet key principles that form the basis of our designs:

Remain true to a building
There is only one way to add to an old building, no matter what period. That is to study it, understand it and respect the original designer.

Only then can you design alterations in the manner in which the original designer might have done so himself. In this way alterations will be sympathetic and seem to belong to the original building as if they were intended to look that way from the outset.

This same philosophy also remains true when creating a new building. It should sit well within, and respect, its surroundings and neighbouring buildings.

Consultative Approach
We aim to be attentive and flexible to our clients’ individual requirements as well as those of the building.

Care is taken to understand both needs and wants and to balance these with what is practically achievable.

Pragmatism
Because we are closely linked with both the design and delivery of projects we know what is realistic to construct on a given budget. We also understand that it is vitally important for the designer to consider the implications of maintaining and living in the building/space being designed.

Simplicity is very often the key to a great looking and usable space that works well but is also straightforward to construct and subsequently maintain.

Professionalism
We consider it paramount to act professionally in all aspects of the design and construction of your project.

There is now so much "red tape" in the planning and building process that it can be quite daunting when undertaking even the simplest of projects. Through our experience we will help you through this minefield.

Interior Design, Kitchens, Bathrooms and Gardens
As well as the architectural design there are other elements which require a good detail of thought to ensure a project is successful. These include general interior design as well as kitchens, bathrooms and garden/landscape design. We have developed longstanding relationships with experts in these areas who share similar values to provide a wide-ranging set of complimentary skills to bring to bear on your project.

Interiors

As part of the design process we will engage with interior designers who also work with our clients to help achieve the right internal look and feel of a building.

Kitchens

Every home needs a kitchen and in the modern home it is very much the centre of modern living!

After designing an initial conceptual layout we work with specialist kitchen designers to refine the layout to suit a clients taste and needs.

Example garden designs

Exteriors/Landscaping

Landscaping is usually the last thing that people think about when embarking on an extension/remodelling project and its often given a low priority on new build projects too! This is a mistake.

Outside spaces are just as important as inside ones and the way in which we interface between the two can make a huge difference to the success of a project. We now spend much more time in the garden and so its important to make the transition space (i.e. patio/deck) work well so that we can use it as much as possible despite the sometimes inclement English weather.
